2016 Working Conference of Collaborative Innovation Center for Clean Power Generation by Coal Staged Conversion Held

  

   2016 Working Conference of Collaborative Innovation Center for Clean Power Generation by Coal Staged Conversion is held in Planning Exhibition Gallery, Qingshanhu Science and Technology Park, Hangzhou, Zhejiang on December 5.
   Over 50 experts and scholars including Academician Xie Kechang, the Vice President of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Director of Science and Technology Committee of the Center, Academician Cen Kefa, the Director of Institute for Thermal Power Engineering of Zhejiang University and the Chief Scientist of the Center, Professor Ni Mingjiang, the President of Institute for Sustainable Energy of Zhejiang University and the Director of the Center, and Professor Yao Qiang, the Vice Provost of Tsinghua University and the President of Graduate School, as well as representatives from universities, Jiang Minhua, the Assistant to the General Manager of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. and enterprise representatives, attend the Conference. Before the Conference, the Center organizes experts to visit Qingshanhu Energy R&D Base of Zhejiang University under construction and Planning Exhibition Gallery of Qingshanhu Science and Technology Park.
   Researcher Dong Hong, the Vice Director of the Center, presides over the Conference, and Academician Cen Kefa delivers a welcome speech; Pang Baoping, the Deputy Mayor of Li'an City and the Vice Director of Management Committee of Qingshanhu Science and Technology Park attends the Conference and makes an address; at the event, he briefs representatives on the status quo of Qingshanhu Science and Technology Park and says:" Over many years of development and construction, Qingshanhu Science and Technology Park, integrating R&D, incubation, industrialization, leisure and living, has basically taken shape and homes 46 scientific research institutes including Qingshanhu Energy R&D Base of Zhejiang University, which is of great significance for strengthening the foremost weak link in scientific and technological innovation. I sincerely hope that overseas top-notch talents, universities and scientific and technological research institutes and organizations could choose to invest, start businesses and live here as the development momentum is building up at a faster pace for Qingshanhu Science and Technology Park, so as to seek growth together with it."
   Professor Ni Mingjiang, the Director of the Center, explains the scientific research achievements made by the Collaborative Innovation Center in 2016, the operation of such Center and Qingshanhu Energy R&D Base of Zhejiang University under construction. He states that cooperators do a great job for the construction of the Center and a range of remarkable results have been gained. He hopes cooperators would continue to strengthen the collaboration among groups to move forward all the work of the Center. Given the current economic situation and industry requirements, he suggests expanding the research to renewable energy sources including solar energy and biomass energy.
   Academician Xie Kechang, the Director of Science and Technology Committee of the Center highly appreciates the Center's achievements in his speech and points out that we shall adhere to developing the clean and efficient utilization of coal and expand the development of hydroenergy, wind energy, solar energy and biomass energy. We shall speed up the technological R&D and innovation in energy field to make preparations for energy technology revolution and green and low-carbon development. In mid and long term, we shall build an efficient, green, low-carbon and secure energy system through reasonably meeting energy demand by scientific, diversified, clean and low-carbon supply to provide secure energy guarantee for the sustainable development of our country. China is facing challenges like tremendous pressure for meeting the energy demand, many constraints on energy supply and backward energy technology, so, it is imperative to advance the energy revolution.
   In the Conference, collaboration units present their work progress over the past year and experts talk about scientific research and innovation, talent fostering, cooperation and exchange of the Center. They also discuss the clean and efficient utilization of coal and related technology and industrialization issues on the basis of the work and development of the Center.
   The Center has made a great breakthrough in the technological R&D of clean power generation and staged conversion of coal now and will focus on the research of clean and efficient utilization of coal while actively expanding the research of clean power generation by renewable energy and doing R&D of technologies of clean power generation by biomass energy, solar energy, wind energy and solid waste incineration and of technologies related to energy conversion, energy storage, pollution control and CO2 emission reduction, so as to make contributions to the sustainable development of energy and environment in China.
