National Natural Science Foundation of China Visits Innovation Groups of Institute for Thermal Power Engineering of Zhejiang University

¡¡¡¡On April 21, 2017, the Field Investigation Team of National Natural Science Foundation of China for Innovation Groups visits the innovation groups of Institute for Thermal Power Engineering of Zhejiang University involved in the research of ¡°heat transfer mechanism and clean utilization of solid fuels with complicated components¡±. Yao Jiannian, Deputy Director of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and relevant persons at Zhejiang University, including Che Chengwei, Deputy Director of Engineering and Material Technology Department, Wang Zhizhong, Head of General Office of Academic Department, Liu Tao, Head of No.3 Engineering Technology Division of Academic Department, Zhang Hongjian, Vice President of Zhejiang University, responsible personnel concerned of scientific research institutes, Planning and Finance Division, College of Energy Engineering of Zhejiang University as well as members of innovation groups attend the investigation meeting.
¡¡¡¡ Zhang Hongjian gives a welcome speech on behalf of Zhejiang University. Yan Jianhua, Leader of Innovation Groups, presents a detailed report on general situations, proposed research work and supports of innovation groups. The Investigation Team visits State Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Utilization, National Engineering Laboratory of Waste Incineration Technologies and Equipment, Collaborative Innovation Center for Clean Power Generation by Coal Staged Conversion and Dioxin Laboratory to know the situations of scientific research environment, experiment support platforms and facilities, holds talks with members of innovation groups and provides guidance on overall framework of programs and research priorities.
¡¡¡¡ The Investigation Team highly appreciates the infrastructure conditions and performance of the innovation groups and states high expectations for these groups. Yao Jiannian, Deputy Director of National Natural Science Foundation of China, makes a speech, on behalf of the Investigation Team. he points out that, with sufficient supports and backing of appropriate national platforms from fundamental researches to technological development and application, the innovation groups has achieved sound performance in talent echelon construction, which gives all the needed to do high-level scientific research. He highlights that the innovation groups shall develop original innovations centering on forefront of the discipline to drive technological breakthrough and gain breakthroughs in fields related to energy and environment. And he adds that importance should be attached to engineering scientific issues, the scientific connotation should be improved on the basis of existing research, and all-round talents should be fostered to get ready for collaborative research of interdiscipline. He hopes this investigation could further enhance the level of scientific research and the quality of research outcomes of innovation groups.

¡¡¡¡Notice on Launching International Training Program of Waste Incineration Power Generation Technology
¡¡¡¡International Joint Research Center for Advanced Energy, Zhejiang University, acting as the head, applies to the Ministry of Science and Technology for launching the international training course of ¡°waste incineration power generation technology¡± to respond to the national strategy of ¡°innovation-driven development¡±, devote to the Belt and Road construction, focus on broader openness and cooperation in science and technology and deepen national exchange and cooperation. The course is to impart the experience and technical skills of Zhejiang University in industry-university-research institute collaboration in waste incineration to developing countries and advocate and support the ¡°going global¡¯ of China¡¯s cutting-edge waste incineration technologies, equipment and engineering teams, thus helping developing countries improve their waste incineration power generation technologies and the level of scientific research and engineering application and foster medium and high level professional and technical talents for waste incineration power generation industry. The Program, furthermore, will build a platform for academic and technical exchanges in waste incineration industry at home and abroad and contribute to improving the internationalization and international market coverage of Chinese enterprises and enhancing the understanding of experts and managements in the industry of developing countries on China¡¯s waste incineration technologies, thus setting the stage for multilateral cooperation and exchange in future technological programs.
¡¡¡¡ The course is open to government officials, scholars in universities and enterprise senior managers in waste management and disposal fields of developing countries. Famous professors from universities, enterprise senior managers and engineers at home and abroad will give the training in English. The training will cover the current situations of and policy systems for waste disposal in China, waste characteristics and disposal technologies, pollution control on waste incineration, design of Waste incineration power generation engineering and power plant operation.
