The young are becoming the main force of scientific and technological innovation and development
With rapid economic development and increasing scientific and technological innovation influence, the BRICS are becoming the guardians of multilateral global order and leaders of future innovation. They, however, face quite many difficulties: large but not strong S&T talent team, outflow of top talents, short of leading talents and high-skilled talents. Ye Dongbai indicates that in the prime of life with great creativity and vitality, young scientists play an irreplaceable role in S&T innovation and are in the golden period for innovation. Youth is the future and hope of a country. Strengthening exchanges of young scientists is of great relevance for the BRICS countries' efforts to promote S&T innovation and sustainable socio-economic development.
Professor Zhao Bin, Chairman of Biomedical Sub-forum, is a scholar listed in the Youth 1,000 Plan of China and a winner of the Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation. His research team has illustrated the relevance between Hippo pathway and anti-tumor immunity, the important hepatocarcinogenesis mechanism. "At the subsequent part of the forum, we will go into some more detail about the development of biomedical technology from application for biotechnology patent, antiviral infection strategies, etc. to benefit the BRICS countries in terms of biomedical science," said Zhao.
2017 is the first year of the second decade of BRICS cooperation, and also a very important year for Zhejiang Province to implement the "13th Five-Year" Plan. It is proposed in the 14th Congress of Party Representatives of Zhejiang Province to build Zhejiang into a strong province in innovation and opening-up. "Zhejiang will strengthen S&T cooperation with other BRICS countries to provide good opportunities for win-win development." said Mr. Wang Jian.
Mr. Huo Hongwei said that "We hope that the BRICS countries will carry out more high-level dialogs and cooperation, strengthen scientific cooperation in advantageous areas, cultivate common industrial growth points, expand the scale of inter-government cooperate, promote talent exchange, and realize synergy between innovation and entrepreneurship policies to build a golden future".
