  The Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China has recently announced the 2017 evaluation result of national-level international science and technology cooperation bases. "International Joint Research Center for Advanced Energy", which is established by State Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Utilization, Zhejiang University, is rated as excellent among the 134 participating units and become one of the 10 units of the same type winning this honor.
  It is reported that the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with concerned departments, has organized experts to evaluate 134 international science and technology cooperation bases for the year of 2017. The evaluation involves data verification, video defense evaluation, individual site evaluation, etc. Finally, 15 are rated as excellent, 64 good, 22 fair and 12 poor. 21 bases have not passed the data verification.
  International Joint Research Center for Advanced Energy was certified by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2012. The Center has been adhering to the principle of "focusing on international frontier, taking a dominant place, learning helpful experience, and cooperating with giants" in recent years. It has first proposed keeping a foothold in national key demands for energy and environment and international frontier academic sectors, the new idea of team introduction, and regular introduction of overseas academic teams led by international academic masters and consisting of several overseas professors and professor-level experts to turn short-term academic exchanges into long-term academic cooperation. Chinese academicians, Changjiang scholars and outstanding young are also invited to establish excellent research teams towards 5 research directions and form world-class academic teams composed of local and international young, adult and old experts and featuring mutual dispatching, inter-penetration, continuous cooperation and stable relationship. The Center has chosen, based on international first-class standards, world-class universities and research agencies to cooperate with and established a number of world-class scientific research centers with them, providing high-quality cooperation and communication links for widening the international perspectives and carrying out scientific research innovation, and ensuring stable and long-term international cooperation and communication.
  In recent five years, the Center has undertaken 59 international cooperation projects, published 210 journal articles in a joint manner, taken positions in international agencies and journals for 32 time-persons, given 50 invited lectures in international conferences, and hosted 19 international conferences. It exports key waste utilization and pollutant control techniques and equipment to countries along the Belt and Road, cooperates with Bandung Institute of Technology to carry out "strategic international science and technology innovation and cooperation", a national key R&D program. Key special projects includes the following: research and demonstration of typical domestic wastes in Southeast Asian countries for efficient and clean energy utilization, international training course of waste incineration power generation technology, talent cultivation for countries along the Belt and Road, special introduction of Chinese experience in coal and wastes to clean energy transformation in the 47th World Economic Forum - Winter and Summer Davos Meetings.
  The Center has now become an important energy science research base of international prominence, taken a domestic leading position in energy and environment areas in term of the academic level, given strong support for the development of clean energy utilization in China, and played an important leading and demonstration role in disciplinary development and catching up with and surpassing the world's advanced levels. It has won 5 awards of the three national major awards: First Prize of State Technological Invention Award: development and application of key technologies in ultra-low emissions of coal-fired units (2017, Unit 1); National Science and Technology Progress Award for Innovation Teams: Cleaning Energy Utilization Innovation Team of Zhejiang University (2016); First Prize of State Science and Technology Progress Award: 600MW Supercritical Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler Technology Development, Research and Demonstration Project (2017, Unit 7); 2 Second Prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award: key technologies for rotary multi-stage pyrolysis incineration of hazardous wastes and cooperative control of pollutants (2017, Unit 1) and sludge stirring type indirect thermal drying and integrated circulating fluidized bed cleaning incineration integration technology (2014, Unit 1).
